Uniform Patrol
|
The Iberville Parish
Sheriff's Department Uniform Patrol Division consists of four teams. Each
is supervised by a Lieutenant and/or Sergeant. The teams work rotating
schedules, cycling monthly, where two teams work an entire month of days
while the other teams work nights.
The shifts are twelve hours rotating at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., and they receive
every other weekend off. Iberville Parish is divided into 10 zones and each
patrol deputy is assigned a zone. |
S. O. G. Special Operations
Group
|
The S.O.G. is a unit of
specially trained and fully equipped deputies who specialize in high risk
operations where force may be necessary. The unit is on 24 hour call
and ready to respond to any life threatening situation that may occur.
Training is rigorous and includes hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, entry,
repelling, and hostage negotiations. Many full time deputies work hard
to become part of this elite unit. |
Water Patrol
|
Because Iberville Parish is
known for its many waterways, including parts of the Atchafalaya Basin and
Mississippi River, the parish has 2 fully equipped water patrol boats that
regularly patrol our waterways. This unit is on call 24 hours a day and also
assists the coast guard when needed. These boats can be on the scene
of any accident or problem within approximately 1 hour. In addition to
accidents, these boats assist in helping those lost or incurring problems
in returning to shore. These boats also play an important role with
the L.E.A.D. Task Force in eradicating drug trafficking and cultivation.

L.E.A.D. Task Force
|
In an effort to keep our
streets and schools drug free, the Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.)
Task Force is responsible for monitoring drug activity and apprehending
those who violate or attempt to violate any drug laws in Iberville Parish.
This task force has been very successful and frequently assists other law
enforcement agencies in apprehending known drug dealers. |
Criminal Patrol
|
Criminal Patrol currently consists of two
uniformed deputies, one being the supervising Corporal. Each Criminal
Patrol Deputy is assigned a K-9 dog capable of assisting the deputy in the
detection of various narcotics, tracking missing or wanted persons, and
protecting deputies from any physical threat. These deputies work primarily
on Interstate 10 which runs through Iberville Parish and is well known as a
national corridor for illegal drugs, weapons, money, explosives, and various
other illegal and hazardous materials. Each deputy and K-9 partner is well
trained and equipped. Many deputies consider it an honor to work for this
unique division and spend much of their off time in continuing education and
training in order to be considered for a position in this unit.
