The Tax Sale is held at the Iberville Parish Courthouse in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Any property with taxes that are still unpaid will be sold to Tax Sale Buyers. Properties going to this sale will be advertised in the official parish newspaper (Plaquemine Post/South) in April and May. The actual Tax Sale is generally held the last Wednesday of May. The purpose of the Tax Sale is to collect the delinquent property taxes due the parish.

If my property is bought at a Tax Sale, what can I do?

The original owner has three (3) years to "redeem" the property from the date the deed is filed in the Clerk of Court's Office. A redemption is calculated by the Tax Collector. The amounts of the redemption will include a redemption fee, a tax sale fee, interest due the Tax Sale Buyer, the base taxes, and monthly interest.
