Iberville Parish is a very
large but rural area divided by the Mississippi River. It has a
population of 30,000 residents and covers 600 square miles of land. Because many
chemical industries reside here, Iberville has a strong tax base and many
jobs available for its citizens. The parish is also known for its
numerous waterways like the Atchafalaya Basin which is partially located in
Iberville Parish. These areas attract outdoorsmen, tourists, sport's
fishermen, and provide a source of revenue for commercial fisherman.
The parish government resides in Plaquemine which is the parish seat.
Iberville Parish is governed by the Home Rule Charter. |
